You know by now I think the iPhone is an amazing device that not only improves the ways you can do business, but perhaps more importantly can help you to stay in better touch with people and the world around you. Not just because of the simplicity of the cell phone features in phoning, but the easy-to-use functions of email and accessing the internet. Furthermore, you can easily synchronize your iPhone with your personal computer (whether Macintosh or Windows PC) and have all your contacts, photos, music and more, right there at your fingertips to tap to get at, via the elegantly designed multi-touch screen.
In prior columns I covered some of these aspects of staying in touch and communicating with others. This column is about having fun on your own, by yourself. A major new development in the uses of the iPhones relates to "webapps." These are small applications, or software functions, that allow you to do concentrated tasks or play certain games or enjoy specific functions. Hundreds of third party companies are developing these "webapps" for the Apple iPhone and they are available, many for free, through the internet. It's as simple as turning on your iPhone, going to the internet by tapping on the Safari virtual button, and then entering into the URL browser bar the following: www.apple.com/webapps. There you can learn about these webapps, and then view in more detail the ones you want to try and then use.. A page on apple.com, states " Since web apps are websites designed specifically for the 3.5-inch screen, you’ll find the viewing experience amazing." The kid in you will rise quickly to the surface. I went right to "Bejeweled by Popcap" which is a mind game that reminded me of Rubik's Cube. Soon I'll try "Big Bang Sudoku foriPhone." Then I checked out "Fandango Movie Showtimes & Tickets" where you can enter your location, and whenever you access the webapp, you then get a handy list of movies in your area, that you can view for more details like times and reviews. "Digg" gives you analysis of news. Here's a splattering from apple.com (at http://www.apple.com/webapps/index3.html) to whet your appetite for these webapps. Some could be reason enough to buy an iPhone if you haven't already.

Tip of the Week: On your iPhone and on your accessories, place a label with your name, address and phone numbers in case you lose the items. Last week, I misplaced my earphones, and Frank Egan of Eastchester, thankfully, found them and was kind enough to call me and drop them off to me. Thanks Frank!
